How Dishes works to keep food safe
Dishes connects independent home cooks with local eaters. Here's what we do — and what we don't.
Cook applications
Every cook submits an application and starts a subscription before their storefront goes live. We review identity and contact details and the food categories and fulfillment methods offered.
Market-specific requirements
Cooks are responsible for following their local food-production, labeling, and storage rules. Some markets may require permits or food-safety acknowledgements that cooks confirm during onboarding.
Allergens & dietary info
Cooks disclose major allergens for each menu item. If you have a serious allergy or dietary restriction, message the cook before ordering. Dishes cannot guarantee accommodations.
Payments
Card payments are processed securely by Stripe. Dishes does not store full card details. Cash may be offered only where the cook permits it.
Pickup & shipping
Pickup happens at the cook's service area; the exact address is shared only after your order is confirmed. Shipping is offered only for eligible items and destinations with cost confirmed at checkout.
Reviews & reports
Reviews come from verified buyers of delivered orders. You can report a cook, a review, or a post from the app; our team reviews reports.
